YOUR GOOGLE CLOCK IS TICKING

Google Analytics is being phased out in July 2023 in favor of a new tracking system referred to as GA4 or G4.

By this time next year, all of the existing Google Analytics data will become unusable in key marketing platforms; such as Google Ads, Google Merchant Center, Microsoft advertising, and much more. This upgrade requires all conversion and traffic tracking to be handled by the G4 system; meaning any existing conversion tracking will no longer function. Additionally, all remarketing lists will need to be handled by the G4 system; meaning clients who are using remarketing will no longer be able to serve advertisements.

Making the switch now has several advantages, especially for clients who a running Google advertising campaigns and/or remarketing campaigns. This is because it can take anywhere from 1-6 months to acquire enough website traffic to use any given remarketing list. By setting up the G4 system now we can begin to build the remarketing lists so they are ready for use when the transition happens. Additionally, getting G4 in place now allows us time to install and test the G4 conversion tracking. The clock is ticking and if clients do not make the transition to G4 they run the risk of:

  • Losing the ability to run remarketing campaigns for 1-6 months
  • Having no visibility on website traffic data
  • Loss of the ability to track conversions (sales, leads, calls, etc.)
  • Violating state or national regulations.
